Reviving a Bayou Landmark

The Restaurant Des Familles is located on the banks of the Historic Bayou Familles. The restaurant was damaged first from a fire, and again during construction by Hurricane Ida. Our team worked alongside the owners to revitalize the severely damaged restaurant. The finished product incorporates the original restaurant's character and materiality, with a completely remodeled kitchen space, upstairs dining, and downstairs dining space. The downstairs dining area features a expansive view of Bayou des Familles with Louisiana's wildlife on full display. Diners regularly see large alligators, herons, egrets, turtles, and more making their way "down the bayou" out of the expansive row of exterior windows.

The restaurant's menu features authentic representations of Cajun and Creole favorites including Etoufee, Gumbo, Fresh Seafood, Turtle Soup, Alligator Sauce Piquant, and Charbroiled Oysters.
